Learning Ruby is exactly what the title says. This book offers a great ‘introduction’ to Ruby as a fun, powerful language. Now I would say that as a Ruby user, I’m not quite advanced but not really a beginner. I would have to say that this book is definitely catered to someone very new to the Ruby world. Rails 2.0 Migrations

Yesterday I gave a small presentation on migrations in Rails 2.0 for the Chicago Ruby group. It went fairly well I think. Not being the most in depth presentation… I hope that someone got something out of it. I think that the new Rake tasks were a little more interesting for the group to learn about than the actual migrations. Here is the slideshow ( I really suck at Powerpoint) and I’m sure it will also be available at the Chicago Ruby downloads page.

Free online Ruby course

I stumbled across this site the other day… well actually a long time ago, but just the other day I found it again because of a link for a free online ruby course. Figured ‘what the hell’ I’ve got nothing to lose. So it starts in the second week of January right before I start my other ‘brick and mortar’ courses. We will have to see how that goes.
