Simple way to finally get your Basecamp RSS into Google Reader
I’ve always had a problem using the RSS feed from my Basecamp account. This problem occurs because I exclusively use Google Reader for feeds. Reader is one of the many feed readers that DO NOT support authenticated feeds. This would be a feed that requires some sort of username and/or password. Well now this problem is all but eliminated! A new service called FreeMyFeed allows you to enter your authenticated feed as well as your login information to receive a new feed that will be unprotected. They say that your usernames and passwords are never stored but so does every other site on the...
gPhone? or something better?
Today comes the long awaited announcement of the now infamous gPho….wha?… there was no gPhone announced today! Turns out it wasn’t a phone at all, well I guess it depends on how you look at it. This morning Google along with many other partners announced the Open Handset Alliance. What is this you say? Basically it’s a bunch of companies banding together to stop the insanity that is today’s mobile phone. The goal so far is to make your mobile handset work the way you think it should. Update: No IMAP for you!
So I just wanted to let you all know that I did finally get the IMAP settings added to my Gmail account, but not in the way you would think. Ironically it was turned on by default when I got there. Weird, but that’s how it happened. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, since it was turned on by when I viewed it for the first time.. does this mean that people can try to configure Gmail for their favorite local client...
Are you a Pagerank victim?
So recently people have noticed a HUGE shift in PageRank… and it wasn’t in an upward motion.  Needless to say people aren’t happy and I’m sure all those SEO people are running around like a chicken cut their heads off.  Anywho, I found this article amusing as people are now displaying a ‘victim’ version of the PageRank counter.
No IMAP for you!
So it’s been a little less than a week since Google started to roll out the new IMAP access feature for Gmail. Do you know who still doesn’t have it? Yeah, that’s right, me! ( and apparently this guy too ) Anywho, this wouldn’t make me all that annoyed except I’ve always gotten the Gmail features right away. Chances are I probably wouldn’t even use IMAP as I don’t really like having a local email client. Especially since Gmail may actually get a new contact manager which would make me a little happier. Although Highrise is pretty cool. I know I’m...
